As The Sabarmati Report marks its first anniversary, Vikrant Massey revisits one of the most defining moments of his career—its special screening in Parliament, where he witnessed an unexpectedly emotional response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film, which released to strong audience appreciation, further elevated Vikrant’s standing as one of the most compelling performers of his generation, coming soon after his National Award-winning turn in 12th Fail.

Reflecting on the screening, Vikrant had shared how moved the Prime Minister was. “Unko film pasand aaya, humara prayas acha laga. Uss film ki screening ke time jitna main bhavuk tha, shayad woh bhi utne hi bhavuk the. Unki aankhein namm thi. Iss baat se tasalli hui ki sahi prayas tha humara jo humne logo tak vo baat pahuchaiye jo 22 saal pehle ghatna ghati thi,” he had said, recalling the conversation with honesty and gratitude.
The actor had also spoken about how personally meaningful the appreciation felt. “He liked my work a lot, he told me. It’s a compliment that is going to stay with me for the rest of my life. I will tell my grandchildren that the then honourable Prime Minister of the country knows me by my name and that he has seen my movie. He thinks I am a good actor.”
Calling it the ‘highest point’ of his career, Vikrant described the experience of attending the screening at the Balyogi Auditorium in Parliament, New Delhi — an event attended by PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, several MPs and the film’s cast. He had shared, “I watched the film with the Prime Minister, all cabinet ministers, and many MPs. It was a special experience… I still can’t fully express it in words because I am so happy.”
As The Sabarmati Report completes a year, these reflections highlight how the film not only sparked conversations but also marked a milestone in Vikrant’s artistic journey.
The actor is now preparing for White, a much-awaited biographical drama in which he portrays globally respected spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The film explores the humanitarian icon’s life, teachings and global impact, setting the stage for another transformative performance from Vikrant — one that demands emotional depth and nuanced storytelling.
