Acting on information shared by people by scanning a QR code that was circulated to colleges, the Mangaluru police on Friday arrested 11 second-year BBA students and seized 12.264 kg of cannabis that they possessed.
The police gave the names of the accused as Adwait Shrikant, Mohammed Apsin, Mohammed Swanid, Nibin T. Kurian, K.K. Mohammed, Mohammed Hanan, Mohammed Shamil, Arun Thomas, C. Mohammed Nihal, V. Mohammed Zasil, and P. Sidhan.
In a press statement, the police said a team led by Mangaluru South police sub-inspector Sheetal Alagur raided a flat in Kings Court apartment at Kaprigudde in Attavar and seized seven packets containing 12.264 kg of cannabis worth ₹2.45 lakh.
The accused had procured cannabis from Odisha. The police also seized two digital weighing machines and 11 mobile phones from the accused.
A case was registered against the accused for offences under Sections 8 (c) and 22 (b)(ii)(c) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
