15-year-old boy dies after falling from second floor


A 15-year-old boy died after falling from the second floor of a building under construction on Saturday night.

The police said A. Soumen Bera, a native of West Bengal, had been residing at the construction site of the new Chennai Middle School building on Kamarajar Street in MGR Nagar, along with his father, for the past three months.

On Saturday night, Bera was sitting on the parapet wall on the second floor when he fell down and sustained a severe head injury. He was taken to the K.K. Nagar Government Hospital, and later shifted to a private hospital. However, he died within a few hours of being admitted to the intensive care unit. The police sent the body to K.K. Nagar ESI Hospital for a post-mortem.
