Three court complexes – Rohini, Saket and Patiala House – and two Central Reserve Police Force schools on Tuesday morning received bomb threats, sending security officials into a tizzy.
Court proceedings were suspended as security personnel and bomb disposal squads were deployed to sweep the complexes.
Officials said the threats were issued via e-mails claiming that explosives had been planted on court premises early morning.
Security was already stepped up at the Patiala House Courts, with the National Investigation Agency scheduled to produce Jasir Bilal Wani, an alleged co-conspirator arrested in the Red Fort blast case, officials said.
The proceedings in the three courts resumed two hours later after the threats were found to be hoaxes, they said, adding that “nothing suspicious was found” after through checking.
Delhi Bar Association president Nagendra Kumar told The Hindu that the security screening process continued for some time as security agencies combed the premises.
CRPF schools
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said an unidentified man called the police, claiming that bombs had been placed inside CRPF schools in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka.
“The schools were evacuated and nothing was found after thorough checking,” an official said, adding that the caller’s phone was switched off soon after the threat call and no one was found at his address. Efforts are on to trace him, the official said.
