3 robbery suspects arrested, stolen articles worth ₹4.43 lakh recovered by Surathkal police

The Surathkal police have arrested three persons allegedly involved in robbery of a house at Mukka, near Mangaluru, and recovered stolen articles worth ₹4.43 lakh from the accused.

The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Shain S. Putran, 21, of Surathkal; S. Girish and Vinod Kumar, both from Bengaluru. Another accused Jaison alias Lenson Karkala is reportedly at large.

The police recovered stolen articles worth ₹4.43 lakh, and also seized a motorcycle, three mobile phones and ₹3,000 from the suspects.

In the early hours of December 3, robbers knocked on the door and asked 85-year-old Jalaja for water. When she did not open the door, the accused climbed to the roof. They removed the tiles and jumped inside the house. They threatened to harm Jalaja if she raised an alarm and tied a towel around her neck. They took 86 gram of gold ornaments and ₹14,000.

A team led by Police Sub-Inspectors Raghu Nayak and Raghavendra Naika went through footage of CCTV cameras in the area and tracked down Shain S. Putran. Then, they arrested Girish and Vinod Kumar, as Shain S. Putran had allegedly sold the stolen articles to them.

Shain S. Putran is an accused in a case of illegal consumption of cannabis. Vinod is an accused in 11 criminal cases, including two for murder and four for dacoity. Girish is an accused in nine criminal cases, including five for attempt-to-murder, the police said.
