Demonstrating a significant commitment to youth development and national service, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters, Visakhapatnam, conducted the annual ‘A’ Certificate Examination, here on Sunday (January 25, 2026).
The exercise saw the participation of 3,500 cadets from the Junior Division (JD) and Junior Wing (JW), representing various educational institutions across Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli districts.
The examination serves as the first major milestone for young cadets, marking the completion of two years of rigorous training. This structured curriculum is designed to transform students into disciplined, responsible, and socially conscious citizens while laying the groundwork for potential future careers in the Armed Forces and other uniformed services, according to a release here.
The examination process was divided into theoretical and practical segments to ensure a holistic evaluation of each cadet’s progress. Key areas of assessment included Drill and Weapon Training that comprised testing precision in movement and fundamental handling of equipment.
Map Reading that is meant for evaluating the cadets’ ability to navigate and interpret topographical data. General knowledge to assess their understanding of national history, current affairs, and the NCC’s core values. Life skills to test their grasp on essential leadership qualities and community service principles.
The successful conduct of this massive examination reflects the robust outreach of the NCC in the North Coastal Andhra region. By bringing together thousands of youth from the three distinct districts, the event highlighted the NCC’s role in fostering national integration and a spirit of selfless service, the release added.
