52 injured in jallikattu at two villages in Tiruchi, Pudukottai


Fifty two persons were injured in the jallikattu events organised at Pothamettupatti village in Tiruchi district and at Vadamalappur village in Pudukottai district on Sunday.

As many as 625 bulls were released during the event which lasted over seven hours at Pothamettupatti with the number of participating tamers being 256. The police said 21 persons were injured and of them two were referred to hospital and the rest were treated as out-patients at the event venue. 

The event at Vadamalappur saw the release of 592 bulls with 186 tamers taking part. The total number of injured persons were 31, the sources added.
