60 CCTV cameras inaugurated at Modakkurichi


Minister for Housing, Prohibition and Excise S. Muthusamy on Thursday (October 2, 2025) inaugurated 60 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras set up at 20 locations under the Modakkurichi police station limits at a cost of ₹15.57 lakh.

Speaking at the event, the Minister said the installation of CCTV cameras helps to prevent crimes and strengthen security. “The police play an important role during public gatherings and festivals and the force has been doing commendable work. The public should also follow laws and cooperate with the department. These cameras will add a layer of security,” he said.

The cameras were funded through the constituency development fund of Erode MP K.E. Prakash. He also unveiled the “Namma Modakkurichi” name board at the entrance of the town panchayat.

Collector S. Kandasamy, Rajya Sabha MP Anthiyur P. Selvaraj, Mr. Prakash, MLA V.C. Chandrakumar, Mayor S. Nagarathinam, and Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha were present.
