Three reserve police personnel from Bengaluru killed in Chitradurga road accident


Three reserve police personnel from Bengaluru were killed and two others seriously injured after the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry near Heggare village in Challakere taluk of Chitradurga district on Sunday (March 15, 2026).

The deceased have been identified as Manjunath, Amaresh, and Sachin, all serving as Reserve Sub-Inspectors in the Bengaluru police.

According to police, the accident occurred when the car travelling from Bengaluru towards Ballari crashed into the rear of a lorry near Heggare village. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car completely mangled.

Two others travelling in the car, identified as Mahantesh and Eshwar, also RSIs sustained serious injuries in the accident. They were rushed to Basaveshwara Hospital in Chitradurga, where they are undergoing treatment.

Preliminary information suggests that the group of police personnel was travelling from Bengaluru to Ballari to attend a friend’s wedding when the accident took place.

Challakere police visited the spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
