A mason was arrested for the alleged sexual assault and murder of a four-year-old girl at a labour colony in Puppalaguda. Officers from the Narsingi police said that the child’s body was recovered from bushes near a construction site.
The accused was identified as 25-year-old Biswa Oraw alias Bishu, a mason working with Western Constructions at Puppalaguda and a native of Malda district in West Bengal.
Police said the girl’s father approached them at around 10.30 p.m. on Sunday (March 15) stating that his daughter had gone missing from their residence at BSR Labour Colony in Puppalaguda. Based on the complaint, a case was registered and police teams began a search for the child.
During investigation, the accused was apprehended within a few hours. On questioning, he allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting the girl and bludgeoning her to death with a boulder to conceal evidence.
Police urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information relating to crimes to the nearest police station or through the emergency helpline Dial 100.
Officials also advised construction site owners to deploy two or three women attendants and provide a designated space to look after the children of labourers while their parents are at work in order to prevent such incidents.
