Two rescued babies presented before Krishna CWC amid racket probe

The Mudinepalli police, probing the alleged child-selling racket, presented two rescued babies before the Krishna district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Monday (March 16, 2026).

“A baby boy (17 months) and a female baby (15 months) were produced before the Krishna district CWC, which handed over the babies to Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) Department,” said Eluru Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar.

“The babies were sent to Sishu Gruha for care and protection,” said a member of the Krishna district CWC.

The Mudinepalli police of Eluru district registered a case against nine persons allegedly involved in the child selling racket. “We traced five children who were sold by the accused gang, of which parents of four children were identified,” Mr. Sravan Kumar told The Hindu. A detailed investigation is on in the case, the DSP said.
