Cameron Young just won one of the biggest titles in professional golf. His kids? They could not have cared less about the trophy. They wanted to see the drone.
Young sank a tournament-winning putt at the 18th hole to claim The Players Championship on March 15, 2026 — the title widely recognized as the PGA Tour’s crown jewel and the biggest win of his career.
But the moment that had everyone reaching for tissues came after the final shot, when his family rushed to his side and his two sons paraded him with hugs on live TV.

In a video shared by the Golf Channel on X, Young was mid-interview with the coveted golden trophy in his hands when one of his sons came running toward him for a big hug. His other son quickly followed.

The scene was heartwarming, candid and a little chaotic — exactly the kind of unscripted family moment that goes viral for all the right reasons.
Young’s wife, Kelsey Dalition, and their three children — sons Henry and John, and daughter Vivienne — were all there to witness the milestone.
While his sons were distracted by a nearby drone in the air, Young turned the spotlight away from himself.
“None of this is possible without my wife, Kelsey and my family. She works incredibly hard on all of our behalf,” Young said in the interview. “It’s constant. They travel all the time and so she holds up that part of it at home and does it all on my behalf so I can go do my job and you know, chase my dreams.”
Young’s first PGA Tour win came in August 2025 at the Wyndham Championship — after 94 starts on tour. But Dalition and the kids weren’t there. It happened to fall during one of only three weeks they missed all year.
“I’ve dreamed of having that moment with them for a long time. Last year at the Wyndham Championship happened to be one of three weeks they missed all year last year. So, they were celebrating 2,500 miles away,” he said during his post-tournament news conference.
Young turned pro in 2019. He and Dalition tied the knot two years later in 2021.
He earned PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2022 before that breakthrough first win in 2025. So when he captured one of the most prestigious titles in professional golf just months later, having his whole family right there on the green made all the difference.
“To get to see them after I went and did my interviews and stuff and got to actually, you know, give my boys a hug, see my wife, see my little girl, that’s something I’ll remember for a long time,” he added.
Cameron Young’s Kids’ Reaction Was Comedy Gold
The funniest part of the day? Henry and John were far more fascinated by a hovering drone than by the gleaming Players Championship trophy their dad had just won. Young loved it.
“There’s a lot going on out there. My kids are more interested in the drone than the trophy, which I think is a really nice bit of perspective on a day like today,” he said during the news conference. “But really thankful to have them here.”

He leaned into the moment even more during an interview with TODAY’s Dylan Dreyer while holding the trophy.
“Honestly, it’s a blessing because they’re just happy to see me at the end of the day,” he said. “They don’t care that I’m holding the Players trophy. So, in a sense, it’s an incredible perspective.”
“This is amazing and I’m incredibly grateful to have played the way I did and won, but they’re what’s important and the way they view me is more important than anything,” he added.
For a golfer who waited 94 starts for his first win and then captured one of the sport’s most coveted titles just months later, it would have been easy to focus on his own journey.
Young pointed to the people who made that journey possible instead. And his kids? They just wanted to see the drone.
