GST officials conduct searches at gold biscuit outlets and jewellery workshops in Coimbatore

GST officials conducted searches at 12 locations in Coimbatore city on Wednesday, including four gold bar outlets and four jewellery workshops, over suspected tax evasion.

According official sources, the inspections were carried out at shops on Big Bazaar Street and Raja Street, and at units involved in ornament production. Sources said GST registration numbers were allegedly used without proper tax payment.

Documents and computer systems were seized for verification of GST filings and sales records.
