Sessions held

Club Talk was organised by various clubs of Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science, Theni, to share knowledge from industry and academic experts. Principal and resource person delivered a session on ‘Global Goals Gathering’, which highlights the importance of financial planning, budgeting, taxation basics, stock market, mutual fund, and investment strategies for young adults. Academic Dean A. Komathi and resource person for the Code Breakers Club, spoke on ‘Tech Talk’ highlighting Google Notebook LM powered by AI, which is useful for students, educators, researchers, and content creators. CoE A. Saranya and resource person for the Science Club, addressed on ‘Innovation Insights’ that inspired students to think critically and scientifically. Vice Principal R. Umagandhi and resource person for the Science Club, talked on ‘Stories Sparks’ that emphasised the value of reading beyond academics.

Equitas Gurukul Matric Higher Secondary School got 1st place in Techno Talentum’ 25 and got a cash prize of ₹10,000. In this programme district-level event was organised by St. Joseph Engineering College, Chennai, and seven teams from Dindigul Gurukul participated. Around 150 teams across Tamil Nadu, totalling 600 students, participated. Dindigul Gurukul’s students showcased their talent and innovation across various technical themes and problem statements.

Eleven students from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology, Virudhunagar, completed the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), international certification. It equips students with practical skills in Linux system administration, server management, shell scripting, and troubleshooting. These competencies strengthen the students’ technical skills and enhance their employability in cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise infrastructure management. Secretary V. K. Dharmarajan and other staff members congratulated the achievers.

Campus Carnival – 25 (College Market – 25) organised by Theni Kammavar Sangam College of Arts and Science and ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, CENDECT, Theni on Friday on the college premises. Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police, Theni District, P. Kalaikathiravan, was the chief guest. More than 50 stalls were set up by the students. The event created an opportunity for the students to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

The inauguration for the first year classes at Syed Ammal Engineering College was held on Thursday. Correspondent Chinnadurai Abdullah was the chief guest. He emphasised the importance of acquiring skills through discipline, dedication, and determination. He also urged the freshers to focus on developing their communication skills, which are vital for placement opportunities. Principal M. Periyasamy presided. Head of the Department of English R. Kavitha welcomed. Coordinator B. Jayalakshmi proposed a vote of thanks.

The Departments of Management Studies and Economics, GTN Arts College, Dindigul, organised a one-day International Seminar on ‘Green Economy and Sustainable Models for the 21st Century’ on Thursday. Associate professor P. Ravichandran, and organising secretary of the seminar, welcomed. Secretary and correspondent K. Rethinam addressed the importance of a green economy and appreciated the efforts of the organisers. Professor of Bharathidasan Institute of Management S. Suriyakumar spoke on ‘Reviving Green Economy: Is Minimalism a Panacea?’. Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Guangxi Minzu University, China, S. S. Jeyaraj discussed ‘Green Economy and Sustainable Business Models’. Emeritus Professor of Economics, Gandhigram Rural Institute, S. Rajendran, elaborated on the ‘Development Experience of Sustainable Agriculture in India’. HoD of Economics, ANJA College, Sivakasi, Kalirajan, chaired the Panel discussion and parallel paper presentation. A quiz competition was also conducted. More than 250 participants across southern states participated.

Virudhunagar District Legal Services Authority, with Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil, conducted a Legal Awareness Programme on the dangers of drugs. Principal Subordinate Judge M. Akila Devi, DLSA, addressed. Psychologist, DMHP, Aruppukottai M. Ilayaraja, Prohibition Enforcement Wing, Virudhunagar A. P. Shanmuga Sundaram DSP, spoke on drug substances, addiction, dangers to users and the society. Inspector of Police, Krishnankoil M. Devamatha and Director M. Bala Kannan were present. J. F. Philomin, DLSA, Srivilliputhur, delivered a vote of thanks. The Varsity Anti-Drug Cell staff and students organised the event.

In another event, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) has been recognised as the District Hub of Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute – Tamil Nadu (EDII-TN) under the Tamil Nadu Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (TNYIEDP) and certifies KARE as the District Hub for Virudhunagar district from 2025 to 2030, with a mission to foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students in higher educational institutions and nurture them into innovative entrepreneurs.

‘Vetri Nichayam’ an initiative taken by the TamilNadu Skill Development Corporation was inaugurated at V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar on Monday. The chief guest Kranti Kumar Patti IAS officer, Managing Director, TamilNadu Skill Development Corporation highlighted the initiatives taken by the State to develop the industry relevant skill for the students. Virudhunagar Collector N.O.Sukhaputra addressed the benefits of Vetri Nichayam’s Beauty and wellness course. Chief Executive Officer, Skill Development and Academy, Naturals Salon Private Limited, R. Shiva Kumar, created an awareness about the State’s initiative for the student welfare.
