Kerala Minister V. Sivankutty taken to hospital after experiencing dizziness in Assembly

Kerala General Education and Labour Minister V. Sivankutty left the Assembly during Question Hour on Friday (September 19, 2025) to seek medical attention after experiencing faintness.

Mr. Sivankutty’s office said the Minister was stable and hoped to return to the Assembly at the earliest after routine checks.

Mr. Sivankutty showed signs of dizziness while rising from his seat to answer questions regarding labour welfare 10 minutes into the start of the day’s sitting.

Immediately, Speaker A.N. Shamseer requested Mr. Sivankutty to take his seat. He asked Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh to answer questions on the Labour Minister’s behalf.

Later, Mr. Sivankutty, accompanied by his staff, left the House, walked to his official car and proceeded to a private hospital he routinely consults.

The Speaker’s office said it was in touch with the doctors and Mr. Sivankutty’s staff to inform the Chair of the Minister’s health condition.
