The Delhi High Court has directed the authorities to deploy additional traffic personnel and take urgent measures at key intersections in Panchsheel Enclave, South Delhi, to curb rampant wrong-side driving and traffic rule violations.
The directions were issued in response to a petition filed by the Panchsheel Enclave Resident Welfare Association (RWA), which highlighted serious safety concerns over unchecked violations at the busy intersections of Josip Broz Tito Marg and Siri Fort Road.
The RWA, represented by advocates Tamali Wad and Anshul Gupta, argued that despite repeated complaints to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), South Zone, no action had been taken, thereby increasing the risk of accidents in the area.
The petition sought an order directing the authorities to draft a comprehensive policy to address the traffic menace around the area and to ensure deployment of traffic officials at Arun Jaitley Park, the Indian Oil petrol pump, and Panchsheel Enclave gate no. 3 as well.
The court, in a September 26 order, asked the Delhi police to immediately deploy “adequate traffic personnel” at all the locations mentioned in the plea. It also directed the authorities to file a compliance report before the next hearing scheduled for January 21, 2026.
