Gobichettipalayam MLA and former AIADMK Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, who had called for re-inducting expelled party leaders last month, on Friday (October 3, 2025) said his silence is a “sign of victory”. He has not taken any decision yet on his next political course of action.

When asked about his ultimatum to party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on September 5, urging steps to reunite functionaries who had left the AIADMK and warning that he would otherwise take up coordination efforts himself, Mr. Sengottaiyan told journalists: “There is no reaction from either side. My silence is a sign of victory.”

On his supporters being relieved of party posts, he remarked, “More may be removed, but everything will ultimately turn out for good.” Dismissing suggestions that the decisions would affect the party, he said, “They will bring neither change nor impact.”

When asked why he did not meet Mr. Palaniswami when he was in Gobichettipalayam on September 23 en route to the Nilgiris, Mr. Sengottaiyan clarified, “I was in Chennai at that time and had not received any information about his visit.” On whether he would meet Mr. Palaniswami during his Makkalai Kaappom Tamizhagathai Meetpom campaign in Erode on October 8, he responded, “Wait and watch.”

Expressing deep anguish over the recent crowd crush in Karur at actor Vijay’s TVK rally, in which 41 people died, he described it as unprecedented in the political history of Tamil Nadu. Extending condolences to the bereaved families, he urged the government and the people to take steps to prevent such incidents.
