Government Rural Siddha Hospital in Somarasanpettai to get new building

The Government Rural Siddha Hospital in Somarasampettai will soon get a new building with improved facilities.

Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru and Tiruchi District Collector V. Saravanan attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony on Saturday morning. The new building would be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹30 lakh granted under the National AYUSH Mission.

“The hospital receives around 50 to 60 patients from all villages in the vicinity. Most of the complaints are related to arthritis, skin disorders, and respiratory ailments. The new facility will help us meet the patients in an environment more conducive to treatment since the old building has become dilapidated,” G. Natarajan, Siddha Medical Officer, Somarasampettai, told The Hindu. Though there is a demand for in-patient treatments, the hospital does not offer them the facility, said Dr. Natarajan. “We refer our patients to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for further medical attention,” he added.

The proposed facility would include rooms for consulting, performing yoga exercises, treatment, and dispensary, said the release.
