With the exponential rise of artificial intelligence (AI) across all fields, the Delhi government has decided to integrate AI into school education. The government school teachers in the Capital will receive training in AI-mediated classrooms between October 8 and 31, according to a recent circular from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
The Directorate of Education has recommended 50 government schools across the Capital to begin the initiative, aimed at equipping teachers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively utilise AI for personalised learning, innovative pedagogy, and meaningful assessment.
According to the project, training will be conducted in two phases. Initially, 100 computer science teachers will be trained as resource persons in their respective schools on October 8 and 9. These teachers will then impart training to 15 subject teachers from each school, covering Classes 6 and 9, from October 13 to 31.
Each training session will be conducted for one or two periods per day, as per the school’s convenience and feasibility, within the respective schools, according to the circular issued on October 3.
“AI is rapidly transforming every sphere of life, including education. It offers immense potential to personalise learning experiences, enhance assessment practices, and enable teachers to adopt innovative approaches in the classroom. In alignment with the vision of fostering future-ready classrooms, SCERT Delhi has initiated the AI-mediated classroom project to integrate AI into school education,” The circular read.
