Police have arrested a gang of four men who allegedly stole mobile phones by taking advantage of crowds at Tasmac liquor outlets in Chennai. Ten mobile phones, one auto-rickshaw, one two-wheeler, and a knife were seized from them.
According to police, Jeeva (48), an engineer residing at Krishnaveni Nagar in Mugalivakkam, had gone to a Tasmac outlet on G.P. Road, Anna Salai, on October 1, to buy liquor. While returning, he found his iPhone, had been stolen. Following his complaint at Anna Salai Police Station, a case was registered and an investigation launched.
Based on CCTV footage and inquiries, the police identified and arrested four suspects — Giridharan (24), Saravanan (24), Ranjith (33) of Tondiarpet and Vinoth (27) of Old Washermenpet.
