Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Saturday held his first video conference with officers from all wings and police stations of the city, including Law and Order and Traffic divisions, after assuming charge as Commissioner. Addressing officers during the online meeting, he outlined his priorities for the department and issued clear instructions on discipline, public conduct and performance.
He said that officers performing their duties with sincerity and dedication would be appreciated, while negligence or misconduct would attract strict action. “It is unacceptable for anyone in uniform to take the law into their own hands,” he cautioned.
He announced the launch of an ‘Extra Mile Reward’ programme to recognise and motivate personnel who display a humanitarian approach beyond their call of duty. Under this initiative, officers who earn public appreciation will be identified every Saturday and felicitated with a certificate and a reward.
Mr. Sajjanar commended several officers for exemplary service. Sub Inspectors Sudhakar, Shobha, Saikanth and Shivakumar, along with their teams, were recognised for cracking a recent child murder case under Madannapet police station limits. Afzal Gunj SHO Ravi, Admin SI Niranjan and ASI Dharmender were praised for rescuing destitute individuals and relocating them to the Amma Nanna Ashram. Film Nagar Head Constable Vijaya Sudhakar and Constable Surender were also appreciated for arresting an accused in a case pending for 30 years.
The conference was attended in person by Joint Commissioner Tafseer Iqubal (Law and Order), Joint Commissioner Parimala Hana Nutan (Administration), DCP Apoorva Rao (Special Branch), and DCP Rakshitha Krishna Murthy (Headquarters). Additional Commissioner M. Srinivasulu (Crime), Joint Commissioner D. Joel Davis (Traffic) and other senior officers, including DCPs and personnel from Constable to Additional DCP rank, joined virtually.
