Various institutions, including the Andhra University, are conducting training camps for students and youth on timely performance of compression-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), a life-saving technique that can play a crucial role in reviving individuals after a sudden cardiac arrest.
The training camps began on October 13 and will continue till October 17. The week-long CPR Awareness Week was launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), in collaboration with MyGov, the government’s citizen engagement platform.
The aim is to create awareness about the importance of early detection of cardiac arrest and timely response through CPR, and to educate the public on the correct technique and key steps in performing CPR.
Meanwhile, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, police, fire department, industries are also conducting CPR camps for their staff at various venues, including the Kali Mata temple area on RK Beach Road, official sources said.
