Brandy Breaks Silence After Abruptly Leaving ‘Boy Is Mine Tour’ Stage

Brandy Norwood has broken her silence after hastily leaving her Saturday, October 18, concert in Chicago.

“To my dear fans in Chicago, thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and — most importantly — your prayers,” Brandy, 46, tells Us Weekly in a statement. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.”

Brandy and Monica Arnold were in the middle of their live concert, named after their 1998 duet, when the Moesha alum quickly walked offstage without a word.

“I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling OK with having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical,” she continues in her statement. “Unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production, I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts.”

“Monica and I coming together again isn’t just about the music — it’s about honoring where we came from and how far we’ve both come,” Brandy said in a June statement, announcing the tour. “‘The Boy Is Mine’ was a defining chapter in R&B, and to share the stage all these years later is bigger than a reunion — it’s a celebration of growth, sisterhood and the love our fans have given us from day one.”

Just ahead of opening night, Brandy told Essence that the tour was a “full-circle moment.”

“It’s a chance to honor where we’ve come from, to celebrate the people who’ve supported us from the very beginning, and to share the stage in a way that feels fresh, powerful and deeply connected to who we are now,” she told the magazine earlier this month. “It’s emotional, it’s inspiring and it reminds me that music really is timeless.”
