A man from Madukkarai reportedly attempted to end his life on Saturday (October 18, 2025), allegedly after seeing his mother struggling with chest pain.
The police said that N. Rajendran, a resident of Arivoli Nagar made the suicide attempt and his mother Saraswathi was found dead on Sunday (October 19, 2025).
According to the police, Rajendran and Saraswathi were living alone. He contacted his cousin A. Senthilkumar on Sunday morning and informed that his mother died. Mr. Senthilkumar visited the house around 11 a.m. and found his aunt dead and saw blood on the floor.
When enquired, Rajendran told him that he was under the influence of alcohol on Saturday night, when his mother suffered chest pain. Rajendran claimed that he injured himself in a bid to end life, unable to see her suffering. He slept under the influence of alcohol and found his mother dead on Sunday morning.
The police said that the woman did not have injuries on her body and Rajendran’s condition was stable. However, the cause of death would be known after the post-mortem. The Madukkarai police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
