Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss ongoing development initiatives in the Capital, including the ‘Clean Yamuna’ campaign, infrastructure and welfare projects as well as arrangements for the upcoming Chhath Puja celebrations, according to an official statement.
During the meeting, Ms. Gupta said her government is determined to revive and clean the Yamuna through a series of targeted measures. “We are expanding sewage treatment capacity, deploying advanced wastewater technologies, and closely monitoring industrial discharge,” she said.
Ms. Gupta said the government is also developing green belts along the river and cracking down on illegal dumping. “Our goal is to make the Yamuna a clean, life-giving river for all Delhiites,” she said.
‘Lighting, sanitation’
On Chhath Puja preparations, the Chief Minister said special ghats are being constructed along both banks of the Yamuna, with arrangements for lighting, sanitation, drinking water, medical aid, and security.
