The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with Tolichowki police arrested two persons for drug peddling and seized MDMA, mobile phones, and a two-wheeler, all worth ₹1.77 lakh.
The arrested have been identified as Mohd Imran, also known as Shukoor or Sahil, 31, a car driver from Suncity, Bandlaguda Jagir, and Shaik Baseer Ahmed, also known as Sameer, 32, a resident of Humayun Nagar.
According to the police, Imran, who is addicted to marijuana and hash oil, was earlier arrested in drug-related cases by Nampally and Kanchanbagh police. Despite undergoing rehabilitation, he continued to procure and sell drugs. After being released from jail in March 2025, he resumed trafficking MDMA sourced from an absconding inter-State supplier in Bengaluru, transporting it by road to Hyderabad, said an officer from H-NEW.
“Baseer Ahmed, who previously worked in Dubai, is also addicted to drugs and liquor. Having no personal income, he joined Imran in peddling MDMA. Acting on Imran’s directions, he delivered drugs to customers and collected payments, sharing the profits with him,” said the officer.
Based on credible information, H-NEW and Tolichowki police conducted a joint operation on October 19 and apprehended the duo. Police seized 11 grams of MDMA. A case under Sections 8(c) read with 22(c), 27, and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, was registered at Tolichowki police station.
Police said Imran procured MDMA from Bengaluru-based suppliers, while Baseer acted as a sub-peddler, distributing it across the city. The two earned quick money through the illegal trade.
Meanwhile, the HNEW urged people, especially youth, to stay away from substance abuse and asked parents to keep a close watch on their children. Any information on drug trafficking can be reported to the HNEW team on 8712661601.
