The Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) released two lists of candidates on Wednesday and Thursday, totalling 101 names for the upcoming 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, in line with its quota of 101 seats under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seat-sharing arrangement.

In its first list issued on October 15, the party named 57 candidates, including sitting ministers and several new entrants. The second list, released on October 16, comprised 44 candidates, thereby completing the party’s full candidate list.

Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, 121 constituencies will go to polls on November 6. In the second phase, 122 constituencies will go to polls on November 11. The counting of votes will be held on November 14, the Election Commission of India announced on Monday (October 6, 2025).
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced that there are strict directives to administration for zero tolerance to any violence, and there will be no scope for any threat to voters or candidates. Over 7.4 crore people are eligible to vote in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, including 14 lakh first-time voters, he said. The CEC asserted that the Bihar elections will be conducted in a transparent and peaceful manner.
