Golden Jubilee edition of Mysore Derby on Oct. 26


The 50th edition of the Mysore Derby will be held at the Mysore Race Club (MRC) on Sunday (Oct.26), according to an announcement by G. Venkatesh, chairman & senior steward of the the club, on Thursday.

The derby was inaugurated in 1974 during an era when the MRC conducted racing under the Bangalore Turf Club rules. The year also the debut of the Mysore 1000 & 2000 Guineas.

The 2025 derby features a record purse of ₹1.13 crore, with ₹50 lakh contributed by the club. The winner’s connections will receive ₹64.55 lakh, with additional distribution to second through sixth place finishers and a breeder’s bonus of ₹5.66 lakh.

Seven runners, representing top stables from Bengaluru and Mumbai, will compete in this year’s event to be run at 4 p.m.. The carried forward jackpot amount of ₹3,37,212 will be added to the combined jackpot pool.
