At least 15 passengers are feared dead after a Bengaluru-bound Kaveri travels bus, which started from Hyderabad last night (October 24, 2025), got completely gutted near Chinnatekuru village on the outskirts of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh.
According to police sources, the fire broke out after a two-wheeler rammed into the bus early on Friday morning (October 24, 2025), around 3:00 a.m..
The blazes soon engulfed the entire bus. 12 passengers managed to escape by breaking open the window panes. One of the escaped passengers, speaking from the hospital, said he helped four passengers escape, but some of his family members got stuck in the flames. There were nearly 42 passengers in the bus.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the accident. The CM conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. He instructed state officials to coordinate with Andhra Pradesh authorities and take necessary relief measures.
He further spoke with the State Chief Secretary K. Ramkrishna Rao and the Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy regarding the accident and suggested setting up a helpline immediately. Instructions were given for the Gadwal District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) to visit the accident site.
