Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister K. N. Nehru inaugurated a new school building constructed at a cost of ₹5.96 crore at Chennai High School under Ward 76 of Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar Zone on Friday.
According to a press release, the new school building, constructed under the Singara Chennai 2.0 scheme, covers 1,473 square metre with ground plus two floors. It has 13 classrooms, science and physics laboratories, a library, and an auditorium. The facility will benefit 354 students studying in Classes VI to X. The Minister distributed school bags, notebooks, pens, and water bottles to all 354 students and presented gift items to 38 teaching and non-teaching staff members.
He also laid the foundation stone for a new commercial complex to be built at Jamalia on Perambur High Road at an estimated cost of ₹9.64 crore. The new complex will be built on 2,371 sq. m with a ground plus two floors, housing 11 shops, and will replace a dilapidated structure that was demolished earlier.
