Katy Perry’s blooming romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is heating up.
“Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” an inside source tells Us Weekly exclusively. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.”
The source adds, “Their friends think they are a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.”
Us has reached out to Perry’s and Trudeau’s reps for comment.

Perry, 40, first sparked romance rumors with Trudeau, 53, in July when the former politician was spotted on a dinner date with the pop star in Montreal following her split from former fiancé Orlando Bloom. (Perry shares daughter Daisy Dove, 5, with Bloom, 48, and was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.) Trudeau was subsequently spotted attending her Lifetimes tour stop in the Canadian city.
For his part, Trudeau announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau — with whom he shares three children — after 18 years of marriage in 2023. He served as the prime minister of Canada from 2015 until March of this year.
Multiple sources confirmed to Us in September that the unlikely duo were quietly seeing each other.
“They’ve decided to be much more private about it. … They are still speaking and are very interested in each other,” one source told Us at the time, while another added that their relationship “isn’t serious” since Perry was “extremely busy” on tour.
“Justin has made plans to see her when she has downtime in a few weeks when she gets back from her tour in Brazil,” the second insider said, referring to the short break Perry had before the European leg of her tour began on October 4. “Katy is taking it day by day but is very open to dating.”

Earlier this month, Perry and Trudeau were spotted packing on the PDA aboard the “Firework” singer’s Caravelle yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California. Just two days later, she made a cheeky joke at her London tour that seemingly referenced her new romance.
“London, England, you’re like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school?” Perry said during her October 13 concert at the O2 Arena, according to The Sun. “No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time … but not anymore.”
Perry further fanned the flames when she dropped a “like” on an Instagram post parodying her relationship with Trudeau on Monday, October 20.
“Katy Perry Releases New Single About Superiority Of Canadian Manufacturing,” read the faux headline from spoof newspaper The Onion.
The joke continued in the caption with a fake quotation from the singer that read, “When I learned about the strength of Canadian automotive and aerospace manufacturing, I knew I had to put it in a song.”
