Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday (October 26, 2025) said that the government is actively considering relocating the Karnataka High Court and is looking for suitable land within the Central Business District (CBD) of Bengaluru.
Speaking to reporters after participating in Walk with Bengaluru, a public outreach programme, at Cubbon Park, Mr. Shivakumar said that the Chief Justice of Karnataka and several advocates have requested a change in location.
“They said that the current court premises are insufficient, and therefore, have asked for a change in location. The new complex should come up within the CBD area, for which we are identifying land,” Mr. Shivakumar said, adding that the court cannot be moved elsewhere easily as it must remain convenient for advocates and citizens.
Given its historical significance, the Deputy Chief Minister has stated that they would preserve the existing High Court building as a heritage structure.

He added that the new site must be easily accessible to the public via public transport, including the Metro, considering the daily movement of people. He hinted at a possible site near the Race Course, but noted that there are challenges associated with shifting there. Mr. Shivakumar also mentioned that another location is under consideration, suggested by a civic body commissioner, though he did not disclose the details.
