Govt. schools to hold SMC meet on Nov. 7 to discuss key issues


The Samagra Shiksha department has directed all government schools in Tamil Nadu to conduct the School Management Committee (SMC) meeting on November 7.

According to a circular, the school management committee should also form a committee consisting of the home-based educator, former students, self-help group members to identify students who might potentially dropout in Classes IX to XII  and help them face government exams.

The principals and teachers were directed to discuss the results of the assessment of the Thiran initiative held in September. Further a holistic report card has been created for students under Ennum Ezhuthum, the features of the report card will also be discussed.

The agenda also includes promoting further awareness on higher education and competitive exams such as JEE and CLAT among parents. The SMC must also create more awareness regarding the 1098 and 14417 helplines.

The meeting will also pass a resolution on calling counsellors once a month to address mobile phone and drug addiction among students.
