The driver of an omni bus was killed after he rammed into a commercial vehicle following a tyre burst on Tiruchi-Karur national highway near Kadiyakurichi on Monday, October 27, 2025. c
The bus with 34 passengers on board was on its way to Coimbatore from Karaikal when one of its front tyres suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control and ram into a commercial vehicle coming in the opposite direction.
The omni bus driver, P. Karthik, 33, was killed in the impact of the collision. Twenty passengers sustained simple injuries and were taken to government and private hospitals for treatment, said police sources. Jeeyapuram police are investigating.
In another incident, a Bengaluru-bound private bus from Kumbakonam fell into a road-side canal along Tiruchi-Namakkal State highway at Silayathi in Tiruchi district early on Monday. The bus driver apparently lost control and the vehicle fell into the canal, causing simple injuries to 21 passengers. Vathalai police are investigating.
