Dempo Sports Club, which drew 2-2 against East Bengal in its opening match, also shared the honours with the other Kolkata giant — Mohun Bagan Super Giant — with a goalless draw in the Super Cup here on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, East Bengal cruised to a 4-0 win over Chennaiyin FC at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim.
Kevin Sibille opened the scoring for East Bengal while Bipin Singh struck twice in six minutes to put the contest beyond Chennaiyin, which bowed out with its second straight loss.
A controversial penalty, converted by Hiroshi Ibusuki in second-half stoppage time, saw the Red and Gold brigade complete its tally.
The focus will now be on the Kolkata derby, between Bagan and East Bengal, on October 31.
The results: Mohun Bagan Super Giant 0 drew with Dempo SC 0.
Chennaiyin FC 0 lost to East Bengal 4 (Sibille 35, Bipin 39 & 45+1, Ibusuki 90+4).
