8 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and More (November 14-16)

Put on your berets and eat some baguettes because we’re going to France. Well, not really, but if you watch Nouvelle Vague, Richard Linklater’s back-and-white love letter to French cinema, you’ll feel as if you’re walking along the Seine River.

In the film, 29-year-old film critic Jean-Luc Godard (Guillaume Marbeck) is fed up with watching movies — he wants to make one. He quickly finds out that’s not so easy, so he calls on his critic pals, a temperamental leading man, Jean-Paul Belmondo (Aubry Dullin), and a young American actress, Jean Seberg (Zoey Deutch), looking to revive her already stagnant career, to help him out. Yet Godard’s experimental first film, Breathless, turns out to be a revolutionary work that changes how movies are made, seen and critiqued. Nouvelle Vague doesn’t quite reach those heights, but it’s a fun and playful look back at cinematic history.
