Several parts of Puducherry on Monday received light to moderate rainfall due to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal. Revenue authorities said the Union Territory received around 3 cm of rainfall on Sunday night. The district administration had issued an advisory appealing public to maintain vigil following an orange alert issued by the Meteorological Department for Puducherry. Residents can report emergencies or seek assistance on the following helpline numbers: 1077, 1070, 112 (toll-free) and 9488981070 (WhatsApp). Since the onset of monsoon, Puducherry has received around 1170 mm of rainfall.
