Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths (DVAC) on Wednesday arrested a Tangedco Assistant Engineer on charges of demanding and accepting bribe from a farmer for transferring electricity connection in his name.
According to DVAC, the complainant Ramachandran, a farmer from Thevaram in Theni district had approached the Assistant Engineer Lakshmanan to get the electricity connection in his father’s name transferred to his name. Lashmanan demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 from the farmer to get the work done. Following a complaint, DVAC sleuths laid a trap and arrested Lakshmanan.
