He then explained why the sudden discourse around his “hotness” catches him off guard. “I think the characters I have played are always not very well put together. I choose characters like Moeen bhai — he’s a street guy, a mechanic, his teeth are black. Who is going to call him hot?” he said, pointing out that most of his iconic roles have been rooted in grit rather than glamour.
The conversation shifted to his upcoming project Gustaakh Ishq, where he plays a full-fledged romantic lead for the first time. When told that the attention is only going to grow once audiences see this new side of him, Vijay couldn’t help but laugh — because he knows it might just be true.
