Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Uma Anandan demanded a white paper on the attendance of conservancy workers, alleging inconsistencies in the workers’ muster rolls and attendance records, at the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Council meeting on Friday.
Citing news reports, she said of the 1,450 workers engaged under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), only 1,000 had been placed on the payroll in the Ambattur Zone.
She questioned whether funds were being utilised and demanded that the GCC issue a white paper.
Mayor R. Priya said that work was being allotted in a circular pattern and for further clarification, the councillor could formally request a white paper through an official letter.
