The MKB Nagar Police has arrested a 35- year-old man for allegedly blackmailing a woman after creating obscene images using the woman’s photograph.
A 35-year-old woman residing in Vyasarpadi complained that her photograph had been manipulated and stored on a mobile phone by her relative Karthik, who also belongs to the same locality. The matter came to the notice of the woman’s husband. Following this, he lodged a complaint at the MKB Nagar Police Station.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (TNPHW Act) and the Information Technology Act (IT Act) and took up an investigation.
After a detailed inquiry, police arrested the accused, Karthik, a resident of Vyasarpadi.
