Two persons, who are alleged to have been involved in the murder of a youth, fractured their legs while attempting to escape from the police on Friday, claimed the police. The injured have been identified as Manoj and Kamalakannan, who are accused of murdering S. Praveenkumar (20) alias ‘Japan’ of Kempatty Colony on Wednesday night.
According to the police, Manoj and Kannan, bludgeoned Praveenkumar to death, when he was consuming alcohol with friends in a secluded area at Balaji Avenue late on Wednesday. The murder was to avenge the killing of R. Gokulakrishnan, a friend of the two accused, during Deepavali celebrations at Selvapuram.
Two accused ‘fracture’ hands
The Kuniyamuthur police on Friday arrested two persons, who trespassed into a house and made a 27-year-old man make UPI payment of ₹1,500 to them at knife point at Teachers Colony near Kovaipudur on Tuesday night. Mohammed Saheem (23) of Pattukottai and Kamalesh (20) of Kuniyamuthur were arrested. The police said Saheem fractured his right hand in a fall, when he attempted to escape.
Similarly, Sathish Kumar (25) of CMC Colony in Coimbatore, who was booked by the Variety Hall Road police on Thursday for the possession of 3.1 kg of ganja, suffered a fracture on his right hand while attempting to escape from the police.
