A series of measures have been rolled out for the 77th Republic Day celebrations in Delhi, officials said on Sunday.
The police said that a multi-layered cordon comprising Delhi Police and Paramilitary forces has been deployed, and the entire area is under constant vigil via an extensive network of CCTV cameras integrated with an advanced Facial Recognition System (FRS).
“Specialised anti-drone units and sniper teams have been positioned on high-rise buildings to monitor the airspace and surroundings. Rigorous verification of hotels, guest houses, tenants and servants is being conducted across the district to eliminate any potential risks,” a senior police officer said.
The Republic Day celebrations come a month after a bomb blast outside the Red Fort, due to which security measures have been heightened.
The police have requested all invitees and ticket holders to check the details on the invitation pass and carefully review the route to the respective enclosure. In collaboration with DMRC, regular announcements are made at all metro stations regarding entry/exit gates, the route to reach the enclosures, the list of prohibited articles, and other important directions.
