Karnataka’s Minister and Congress leader Laxmi Hebbalkar said that some people repeatedly invoke Hindutva in their speeches while she is strengthening Hinduism by building over 152 temples in her constituency.
“Some people only say Hindu-Hindu in their speeches, but I am saving Hindu culture by building over 152 temples. Those who go around making such speeches do nothing for Hindus. I am not just giving speeches, I am saving Hindu culture,” Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar said Laxmi Hebbalkar said on January 20 after performing Bhoomi Puja for development projects, including concrete roads, construction of drains, installation of paver tiles, worth about ₹7 crore in Shindolli village of Belagavi Rural Assembly constituency.
“Seven years ago, I had told you that I will show how the constituency could be developed. Now, I have delivered on my promise. I am developing a rural constituency, which is on the path of development. Let us not reduce this pace of development. You are seeing development all around. You have accepted me as a daughter, and I am serving you,” she said.
“I am not someone who sits idle after being elected. I am exploring all avenues of development. I am approaching ministers and officers, and getting grants and schemes. Due to such consistent efforts, Belagavi Rural constituency has become well-known across Karnataka. Each village in my constituency has got funds of around ₹5-10 crore. Whenever there is a village fair or festival, I look at it as a chance to develop the whole village,” she said.
She said that her relatives — brother Channaraj Hattiholi, MLC, and son Mrunal Hebbalkar, youth Congress leader — had not entered politics to enjoy power, but to serve the people. “We are earning your love by serving people to the best of our abilities,” she said.
Community leaders Suresh Patil, Raju Patil, Sheela Thippannagol, Ningappa Shahapurkar, Suresh Mukhandi, Nagesh Desai, and Panchayat Development Officer Sridevi Hiremath were among those present at the event.
