Harry Styles Drops ‘Aperture’ Single After Announcing New Album: Lyrics, More

Harry Styles revealed the next phase of his comeback just hours after announcing his Together, Together tour.

The pop star, 31, dropped his new single, “Aperture,” on Thursday, January 22, after revealing its release date two days prior. The five minute, 11 second song gives off techno meets disco vibes with a strong backbeat and rhythm that lasts throughout the track.

“Take no prisoners for me / I’m told you’re elevating / Drinks go straight to my knees / I’m sold, I’m going on clean / I’m going on clean,” Styles sings in the first chorus. “I’ve no more tricks up my sleeve / Game called review the player / Time codes and Tokyo scenes / Bad boys, it’s complicated / It’s complicated.”

When the singer confirmed the drop of “Aperture” via Instagram on Thursday evening, he teased that a video is also coming at “17:00 UK” time. Styles announced the news by sharing a photo of himself sipping on a “Big Gulp” soda while sitting alone on a bed.

The four surviving members of One Direction are ringing in 2026 with new music — all within the same week. Simon Cowell famously formed 1D on The X Factor UK in 2010, bringing together Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne to front a boy band. The group, however, fractured in […]

Speculation about new music began late last month when Styles dropped a surprise YouTube video titled “Forever, Forever.” The footage showed him performing an instrumental piano piece during his final Love on Tour date, which took place in Italy in July 2023. The clip ended with the text, “We Belong Together.”

A website reading “We Belong Together” appeared online earlier this month and directed fans to a sign-up page where they could enter information to receive messages from a contact named “HSHQ.” After signing up, fans received a message reading, “Have a nice day.”

Styles has stayed relatively quiet since wrapping Love on Tour more than two years ago, popping up in various European cities and enjoying low-key outings with rumored girlfriend Zoë Kravitz. His film career seems to be on hold as well, with his last film, My Policeman, premiering in late 2022.

Harry Styles has subtly returned to social media, leaving Us fans with plenty of questions (and theories!) about his next moves. “I think there’ll be a time again when I’ll crave it,” Styles told Rolling Stone of acting in September 2022. “But when you’re making music, something’s happening. It feels really creative, and it feeds stuff. A large part of acting is the doing nothing, waiting thing. Which if that’s the worst part, then it’s a pretty good job. But I don’t find that section of it to be that fulfilling. I like doing it in the moment, but I don’t think I’ll do it a lot.”

In the same interview, Styles explained why he tries to maintain a sense of normalcy as he sightsees on foot in various cities, blending in by hiding in plain sight.

“If you make your life about the fact that you can’t go anywhere and everything has to be a big deal, then that’s what your life becomes,” he said. “Now, in London, I walk everywhere. It’s hard to stumble across things and restaurants and places and stuff if you’re just driving everywhere, and it’s just not that fun.”

Styles is one of two One Direction alums with a new album this year. His former bandmate Louis Tomlinson will release his third LP, How Did I Get Here?, on Friday, January 23, and will embark on a headlining tour kicking off in March.
