A 19-year-old youth from a village near Aralvaimozhi tragically died in an accident while cleaning the harvesting machine in a paddy field near Thazhakudi on Monday.
The police said the man had been identified as S. Ebi Kannan, a resident of Puliyanvilai village near Aralvaimozhi. He was engaged in paddy harvesting work near Thazhakudi. While cleaning the harvesting machine, the towel he had wrapped around his neck accidentally got caught in the rotating parts of the machine, tightening like noose around his neck and resulting in his instantaneous death. Aralvaimozhi police rushed to the spot and sent his body for post mortem examination at Kanniyakumari Government Medical College and Hospital in Asaripallam.
