A.P. eyes large-scale overseas placements via recruitment agents

The government is trying to expand overseas employment opportunities for youth by collaborating with recruitment agents.

A national-level recruitment agents’ meeting for international employment opportunities held here on Friday (November 29) explored partnerships with nationally registered recruitment agencies and focussed on strengthening long-term collaborations with international workforce providers. As part of the initiative, tripartite Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed.

A total of 17 recruitment agencies participated in the deliberations, sharing insights on global hiring trends, regulatory frameworks, migration challenges and the support required from the State government.

Secretary, Skill Development and Training Department, Kona Sasidhar presented the State’s emerging skill ecosystem, highlighting key initiatives such as the introduction of German language training in government nursing colleges and emphasised the importance of the Naipunyam portal, which connects the State’s talent pool with verified global employers. He said Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) trained 1.42 lakh youth last year in future-ready skills, enabling candidates, even from remote villages, to secure international placements.

Chairperson, APSSD, Burugupalli Sesha Rao said while the APSSDC equipped the youth with global-ready skills, the Overseas Manpower Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP) ensured safe and legal migration pathways.

President, APNRT Society Ravi Kumar Vemuru noted that over 40 lakh Telugu people across 140 plus countries were supported by the Society’s 2,000 active global members. He highlighted that annual remittances from the NRIs exceeded ₹30,000 crore, a significant contribution to the State’s economy.

Managing Director and CEO, APSSDC, G. Ganesh Kumar said vocational training institutions were being aligned with specific industry demands and informed that welder placements had achieved a 100% success rate due to focused and industry-centric training.

An interactive session deliberated on the entire migration ecosystem — global demand forecasting, talent sourcing, skill gaps, training infrastructure, language proficiency, cultural orientation, visa and emigration procedures and post-migration support.

APSSDC Executive Director D. Manohar said many participating agencies expressed interest in establishing operations in Andhra Pradesh and notable among them were Seagull and Transcend HR Consulting, which announced plans to set up offices in the State soon. Responding to a request from Mr. Sashidhar, representatives from the logistics sector agreed to explore the establishment of a Left-Hand Drive (LHD) training and testing track in Andhra Pradesh, an essential facility for migrants heading to Europe.

Three organisations, Dynamic Staffing Services, Nihon and Border Plus formally entered into the MoUs with the APSSDC and OMCAP Ltd.

The meeting was organised under the guidance of Minister for HRD and IT and Communications Nara Lokesh and attended by the CEO of Society for Employment Generation and Enterprise Development in Andhra Pradesh (SEEDAP) P. Narayana Swamy, Advisor to the State government on International skilling and Mobility Seeta Sharma.
