Aavin’s special sweets for the festival – cashew kathli, nuts halwa, pista roll, badusha and Mysorepa, assorted pack, peda– are available at around thousand points across the city including 35 hi-tech parlours, milk booth parlours and franchise outlets.
The Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation has been advertising its Deepavali sweets for placing bulk orders through its milk packets.
“On day one, the front side of the milk packets had the details. Now the details are on the the top of the cover, reminding consumers every day. Bulk consumers who buy for over ₹1 lakh are eligible for a discount,” said an official.
“Our rates are very much on a par with our other milk-based products. We have not increased the prices of these sweets in the last few years as Aavin remains consumer-centric, giving quality products at nominal prices so much so that our sweets cost much less than other brands,” said an official. Apart from sweets, Aavin sells cookies, chocolates, mixture and butter murukku, which are also available for bulk sales. Minister for Dairy Development Mano Thangaraj said that Aavin had done very well in terms of sales of milk-based products when compared to last year. “We have done around 50% and this figure is likely to increase further as the festive season progresses. We have set a target of 100%.”
