The Asian College of Journalism (ACJ), in partnership with Interlink Academy, Germany, is launching a Climate Change Media Hub at its Chennai campus to strengthen climate and environmental journalism in India.
Set to open in November, the hub will focus on capacity building, networking, and resource creation for journalists covering climate change and related issues. The initiative includes two core programmes — the Climate Change Residency Programme and the Climate Change Mentorship Programme – both running for eight months.
Designed for journalists with over seven years of experience, the residency programme would be based at ACJ. The residents would receive support to produce investigative, multimedia stories on climate issues, a release said.
The mentorship programme targets journalists with two to three years of experience, and will allow them to report from their regions while being mentored by veteran climate journalists.
Both programmes will run four times over three years, and include a stipend and production budget. Participants will receive training in multimedia storytelling, data journalism, and digital production, along with access to ACJ’s visual/audio facilities, academic resources, and expert mentors.
