Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar has set the rumour mill abuzz with his latest remarks about Kriti Sanon’s character from Bhediya, hinting that the actress might not be done with the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe just yet.
Aditya Sarpotdar hints at the possible return of Kriti Sanon to the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe: “You didn’t see where she fell”
During a recent interview following the release of his latest directorial venture Thamma, Aditya was asked about the fate of Dr. Anika, the character played by Kriti Sanon in Bhediya (2022). The film, directed by Amar Kaushik, starred Varun Dhawan as Bhaskar, a man who transforms into a werewolf after being bitten in the forests of Arunachal Pradesh. Kriti played Dr. Anika, a mysterious veterinarian who shared a strong emotional and supernatural connection with Bhaskar. Her apparent fall from a cliff in the film’s climax had left fans uncertain about her future in the franchise.
When questioned about whether Kriti’s character could return, Aditya offered a teasing response that immediately caught attention. “Amar made that film and it clearly took that film to a closure. You saw Anika fall from the cliff and she fell down. But you didn’t see where she fell. You can imagine where she must have gone and if she will come or not. If you think she will come, you never know,” he said with a smile.
Adding to the intrigue, the filmmaker also praised the actress, saying, “I think Kriti is a fantastic actress. And I do feel that this universe is made of very good actresses.”
His cryptic comment has sparked fresh speculation among fans who have long hoped to see Kriti reprise her role in future films. The Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe, which began with Stree (2018) and later expanded with Bhediya (2022), Munjya (2024) and now Thamma (2025), continues to grow into one of Bollywood’s most talked-about cinematic universes.
While no official confirmation has been made about Kriti’s return, Aditya’s hint has already fuelled widespread fan excitement — and perhaps, a glimmer of hope that Dr. Anika’s story might not have ended just yet.
